Bryson East-Puckett

Hi, Hornet families!

My name is Mr. East-Puckett, and I have been part of the Lesslie Elementary family since the beginning of the 2026–2027 school year. I have spent the past four years working in education with students across elementary, middle, and high school settings. My experience has included special education, behavioral intervention, early childhood education, mathematics intervention, and supporting students with a wide range of academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

Behavior and special education have become some of the areas I am most passionate about. I enjoy looking beyond what we see on the surface and figuring out what a student may be communicating through their behavior. I especially enjoy developing individualized supports, teaching replacement skills, helping students learn to regulate their emotions, and creating environments where students can feel successful while still being challenged to grow.

My educational background is in Elementary and Special Education, with an emphasis in Behavior Disorders and Emotional Disturbances, as well as Early Childhood Education and Applied Behavior Analysis. I am also a licensed Behavior Therapist, and my background in behavior has had a major influence on the way I approach supporting students. I believe that strong relationships, consistency, high expectations, and understanding the function of behavior can make a tremendous difference for children.

One of my favorite parts of working in education is watching a student make progress that may seem small to someone else but is huge for that individual child. Every student brings different strengths and challenges to school, and I enjoy finding the strategies that help each student recognize what they are capable of.

When I’m not at school, I enjoy hiking, spending time outdoors, exploring new places, spending time with my cats, and learning more about psychology, behavior, and education.

  • Bachelors degree in Elementary and Special Education, with an emphasis in Behavior Disorders and Emotional Disturbances

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education

  • Education and training in Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Licensed Behavior Therapist
  • Passed all required South Carolina certification examinations for Elementary Education and Special Education

  • Four years of experience in K–12 education
