Jeri Rogers

Hello!

My name is Jeri Rogers, and I am the LSES Teacher Librarian/Media Specialist. I have been loving my career for thirty-six years. Prior to becoming a teacher librarian, I taught English Language Arts/Literacy in grades six through eight in Chesterfield County and fifth grade in Lancaster County – both here in South Carolina. I earned my undergraduate degree here in Rock Hill at Winthrop University and my two master’s degrees from the University of South Carolina. Primarily an elementary educator, my specialties include literacy, gifted and talented education, middle level language arts, and information science.

As a teacher librarian, I believe that it is critical to foster a love of reading, promote information literacy, and create a warm and inclusive library setting. I also recognize the library’s power to support student success by providing access to resources, teaching essential research skills, and collaborating with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum. I believe the library is a vital hub for learning, literacy, and community engagement.

I have two daughters, Lauren and Hannah, two sons-in-love Jacob (Lauren) and Drew (Hannah), and a precious grandson, Theo.

In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, shopping, and walking outside in the fresh fall or spring air. The very first book I remember reading was A Cricket in Times Square by George Selden. My dad would read a chapter to me every night before I went to bed.

Please feel free to reach out at any time.  I am working on a brand-new website to highlight the LSES Library. Look for it in the near future.
